Promotion Day!

Today, you’ve been promoted!

You now work for God, no longer for your boss, for your clients, or simply for your paycheck at the end of the week.

Your time spent at work is no longer to be considered as taking away from your time for ministry – it is your ministry!

And, to top it off, you’re getting paid to do your ministry!

Your ministry today may be to the co-worker across the cubicle aisle, the client who drops off a big project, your secretary, or the delivery man. No matter who the individual may be, you are in the unique position to minister to that person today, so I want you to be empowered to make a difference! You may be the only person today that believes in them. You may be the only person today from whom they hear words of life and hope, rather than words of rejection and negativity.

You will do your job creatively today because you are inspired by the Creator Himself. You will do your job with precision and accuracy today because you are working for the Lord, and not for men and women. You will do your job with energy and enthusiasm today because it is your ministry to the world.

The things you do today between 8 and 5 (or whatever hours you find yourself working) will have eternal significance. That person you encourage will make it through another hard day. That job you do right the first time will allow someone else the time to do even greater things. That person you feed will have the strength to go out and minister to others.

I failed to fully realize the value of my time in the construction industry until it was over. I was always wishing I didn’t have so much work to do, thinking that it was taking away my time for real ministry, all the while failing to realize that it was my real ministry.

So, to keep you from making my mistake, I’m giving you all a promotion today! Enjoy your new position and title. The benefits are outstanding and eternal!

Happy Labor Day!

(If you’re reading this from work today, I hope your boss will forgive me for giving you a promotion. And for wasting your time on the internet.)

I went to work today and printed this off for my boss. First she laughed quite loudly and said "yeah right" then she said "Hey...if you get a promotion...then so do I"
I don't think we got much accomplished the rest of the day. But it was a fun day!
