They say only about 25% - 30% of visitors to Alaska ever get to see Mt. McKinley, the highest peak in North America and third highest in the world. Why? Too many clouds.
We were fortunate to be able to join the 30% who do while we were in Alaska last week. It cleared off just long enough on Tuesday for us to drive north to Talkeetna and catch this view.
Incredible view of God's beauty.

Welcome to the 30% club.
So, how did you like Talkeetna? Did it remind you of Northern Exposure?
I faintly remember Northern Exposure, but I didn't watch it regularly enough to be able to remember any of it clearly.
The Talkeetna that I saw appeared to be nothing but a tourist trap. Although I must admit we only went inside one store.
Old TV show.
Sad to hear about Talkeetna. They had just made a train stop there just before we visited. While the business people in town were excited, a few of the old timers were disgusted that everything was going to change and become touristy. Oh, well.
Can't beat that view of Denali, though. Great picture! What a gorgeous (and dangerous) mountain!
