Lessons from CD editing and mixing

The whole is definitely greater than the sum of its parts.

If you listen to one track individually, it usually doesn't sound very good. But, when blended with others, the result is beautiful.

Unity is a wonderful thing, isn't it?

We all have different gifts.

Some can sing "oohs" really well, others are better at singing words. Some can maintain breath support through long phrases, while others cannot. Some are good for singing solos, others are better at singing the supporting parts.

God made the body with different strengths and weaknesses. We need each other.

Re-takes and punch-ins are a wonderful thing.

I've only come across one take from beginning to end of a song that I've used without editing. That's one person on one song, in the context of 9+ people on 13 songs.

We don't always get things right the first time, or all at the same time. Isn't it neat that God never gives up on us?

Unless you are, of course, The Carpenters. Herb Alpert used to be blown away by their ability to get it perfect on the first take. But, that was then. And, they were unique.

What excellent thoughts my friend.
To have your Spirit eye so open during such a taxing effort and to draw these powerful observations is truly a testimony of where your heart is.
The CD begins to speak before it is even in peoples hands.
We love you and thank God for you and your beautiful wife.
