The storms that rolled through the Tulsa area on Sunday morning took out the power to our house once again. I wish someone had warned me that the farther you live away from the major subdivisions, the longer it will take to get your power restored after storms…
Anyway, after a warm (but not unbearable) Sunday night with the windows open, enjoying the sound of humming generators next door as well as the pleasing aroma of diesel fuel, we decided to go to Wal-Mart on Monday night to look for a battery powered fan. It would provide some different white noise to sleep by and get the air moving as well.
(Being on steroids, even 72 degrees in the house feels hot to me these days…)
While there, I had the idea to look for a battery powered lantern as well. Not that the candles weren’t adequate, but something that could provide a little more light and not run the risk of setting the cat’s tail on fire seemed like a good idea.
So we buy the fan and the lantern, stock up on D batteries, and head home. By then it’s 9:45 p.m., so it’s pretty dark at the homestead. After a little bit of a struggle, I figured out how to get the lantern apart and install the batteries.
No joke here…the exact moment that I pressed the ON button for the lantern, the whole house lit up.
Either those were some powerful batteries, or the power was finally back on.

Maybe God wanted to give you something to laugh about (and "lighten up" the situation)! Well, at least you'll be prepared for the next time it happens, cuz you know there'll be a next time. ;D
Our experience with no power left us with HAVING to go out for lunch after church because we had nothing at home we could eat. I was SO DISAPPOINTED I couldn't prepare a meal (yeah, right).
This made me laugh out loud!
