Self Made?

I was passed today by a white Cadillac with a license plate that said "SLFMADE".

Hmm...does he mean that he built that car all by himself?

No, surely not that...

You don't suppose he's suggesting that the success he has achieved in life has been done 100% on his own, do you?

What about those who invested in his life by teaching and training? Those who gave him employment and opportunities to try? What about those along the way who offered encouragement or support? Did they not have some part in his success?

What about his Creator? Can he save himself from his sin by his own human effort?

Are any of us truly "self made"?
