Shaner's Law of Alarms

No matter what station you set your alarm clock to, it will always be on commercial when your alarm goes off.

With that in mind, we bought one of those Bose wave radio/cd's with an alarm clock feature. It's been pretty cool waking up to the York College choir on Monday, and Zoe's "A New Anointing" this morning (This is the day that the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it). It sure beats the normal commercials or annoying dj's.

Oh, wait. My Dad was a morning dj for years. He wasn't annoyingly chipper at 6:00 a.m., was he? Alas, I was too young to notice. I just thought it was neat that he was on the radio, even if it was country music.

I have found that whatever wakes me up tends to have an effect on how I feel that day. The first song I hear tends to stick in my mind for hours. Most days I wake up to a wet cat nose in my face. When it comes with a loud purr, it's OK. When it comes with a demanding meow, it's marginal. One thing I can't stand is waking up to a beeping alarm. Grrrrrrr.

I hope the cat doesn't beat the Bose tomorrow.

Yes, your father was bright and chipper at 6:00 am. He had to get up at 4:00 am Monday through Saturday. I had two hours to poor down coffee and think of ways to annoy the rest of the world. Just think, they even turned on my show for me to do it.

This was just about the funniest thing I've read in a long time. Personally, I have 2 alarm clocks: Joel and/or Kirby. Mike still uses the "beep beep" kind. I sleep through it. :-)

In junior high thru college, I used to think that whatever song was playing, was how my day would go, too. Weird. I have another "law" for you...

I hope that everyone can find a "significant other" who doesn't hit the snooze for 2 hours!... on your day off! Not saying that mine does... I just remember my college roommate. He was supposed to wake up 1 hour before class (never did go) but hit the snooze button for 2+ hours on mornings that I didn't have an early morning class. I can't sleep thru those things, so eventually woke up. AHHHHHHHHH! I was just thankful that I have a wife who sleeps thru my noisiness in the morning.
