Testing Monday

We watched part 2 of Beth Moore's study on Daniel with our small group last night. In it, she referred to Psalm 118:24 :

This is the day that the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it.

It's been a struggle to live that one this morning. My alarm clock somehow was switched from the radio to auxilary, so it didn't go off this morning and I was late to my meeting.

When I got out of the meeting, I had a voice mail from Alice that her car had dropped all its oil on the garage floor when she put it into reverse to go to work. I'm now waiting on a tow truck...

And you all remember about my lack of patience with cars, right?

I am rejoicing. Really. ; )

John 15:5, "Apart from me you can do nothing." But... "I can do everything through him who gives me strength." Philippians 4:13

And that includes rejoicing in malfunctioning alarm clocks and cars that randomly fall apart. :-)

Hope your Tuesday is easier to rejoice in than your Monday, and if not, I pray God gives you the strength to rejoice anyway.

Why is it always Mondays that seem to carry more hindrances to joy than any other day of the week??? I've prayed 1 Thess. 5:16-18 over and over today! I have to say, the Spirit opened my eyes to moments of joy and peace and I have given thanks all day. I don't know why I make life so hard sometimes. Today has had some really precious momments in it. Don't get me wrong - the same challenges are there that were there last week, but now I see them through His eyes! I'll add your name to the group that is praying thess verses. Hope, Tuesday is better! Thanks for your example of a rejoicing heart - no matter what Mondays bring!

Bummer on the car thing. I hope it's something simple. Sunday afternoon had the potential to be one of those challenges for me. The washer decided to give up the ghost in the middle of a wash cycle. That leads to lots of towel wringing and soapy water dipping. Fortunately Craig took the wet stuff home from small group to run it for us. Now that's a real friend. I decided to uninstall the washer tonight and get it ready for the shop. I couldn't resist the urge to explore a little myself. I thought the pump was out so I decided to remove it and see what was up. When I got it out, there was a small silver necklace wrapped around the impeller. I wonder if my daugher has missed that yet? Anyway, when I put it all back together, everything worked fine. Definitely made my day. And saved a bunch of dinero. I love it when that happens. Have a great Tuesday. By the way, if anybody asks, I got the toilet in the men's room unstopped this afternoon. Somebody needs to cut down on the fiber. :-)

Wow, I've had Monday's like that. Today wasn't bad though. I went to a graveside service where I heard the worst rendition of "I can only imagine" that I have ever heard. Not a single note was on key. I was so thankful he had a guitar because it helped drown him out.

Oh, and I saw the worst toupee I've ever seen too. I was sure hoping the wind was gonna blow that sucker off there. That would have been REAL entertainment.
