So much of our news these days is dominated by the race for President. I did some reading today from "The Cross Examination of Jesus Christ" (by Randy Singer) that really gets to the heart of the matter of politics and the Christian:
"There are plenty of Christians intent on changing our nation's laws. But there aren't many intent on changing the hearts of our nation's lawyers. Christ didn't lead a political revolt, but He did try to convert the rich young ruler. He never led an army, but He did heal the centurion's daughter. He didn't try to reform the Sanhedrin, but He did meet with Nicodemus, a member of the Sanhedrin, at night."

I just got my order in of that book tonight when I got home. I ordered one for myself and one for a friend. Now maybe I can give Heather her copy back. I've only had it for almost a year! There is so much in that book that has caused me to think, rethink, and evaluate how I follow Christ. Good stuff!
Shane,
Great post.
I have heard it said, that "when you mix religion and politics you get politics." Jesus was about an entirely different Kingdom. He wasn't about a certain political system or joined to any party. Let us be careful as Christians when it comes to how we treat others in regaurds to people view of poliitics as if it were a "salvation" issue or one group would be the "group of Jesus".
In Him,
Kinney Mabry
Truly an oxymoron. Christian....Politics.
