OSU Post-Mortem

And now for something completely different...

The OSU men's basketball season is officially over following their loss to Southern Illinios tonight. They ended with a 5 game winning streak which caused all sorts of excitement, followed by losing 4 of their last 5 to put us all out of our misery.

They should have done better. I'm disappointed.

My prediction: They'll treat Sean Sutton similar to how Gundy was treated last year. They'll tell him what he needs to do to keep his job after next year - in this case, nothing short of an NCAA Tournament bid will suffice. And that is perfectly fair. Sean will have a veteran team returning next year. But 3 straight one-and-out trips to the NIT aren't acceptable.

I'm picking Texas to win it all. Their path seems too easy to me. After first and second round games in Little Rock, Arkansas, they don't even have to leave the state of Texas. I've watched Memphis, and I think Texas can take them out. I say they meet UCLA and North Carolina in the Final Four. Those will be tough, but I'm saying the home court advantage puts them over the top.

So, who are YOU picking?

I'm kinda with you on the OSU thing. He's REALLY got the tallent to be successful... needs a BIG player or 2, I think, though to really go with the guard play. But I kinda feel his pain... you've got a bunch of mis-fit kids who are: 1) constantly getting into trouble, 2) don't seem to be self-motivated kind of players, and 3) just don't take losing personal. I know how he feels. Don't know if he's tried EVERYTHING that he can do yet, but his back is against the wall, now, and he'd better start working on next year RIGHT NOW.

As for the brackets... I think that TExas has it pretty easy too, but I don't know if the spirit of John Wooden (even tho "I'm not dead yet." -- to go with your Monte Python quote in your post) isn't just what UCLA needs to get them past da' Horns. I've got Kansas and UCLA in the finals... with KU wipping off old cobwebs of Finals misshaps. Someone on the radio made a comment, "Well Kansas has fumbled it in the past and missed opportunities." The announcer then said, "well, that guy who led those teams is now at Carolina!" Funny...

as you already know... I'm hoping Kansas will make it. But I'm seriously doubting they can beat UNC. That team has some serious talent, and on top of that they have incredible momentum.

My disappointment in OSU knows no bounds. (But then... I'm also not a huge fan of Sean Sutton. No offense, but does he EVER smile??)

I'm taking Georgetown over KU in the regional final. Don't hate me, you two...

No, Sean doesn't smile, he sweats.

Smiling would be more attractive, huh?

I don't think I'm even going to engage in this!!! You absolutely know who I think will win. I will support the sooners until I know there is no chance. We'll see what happens on Friday. ;o)

I have no comment but I liked the Monte Python quote.

smiling would be MUCH more attractive. Though... I have issues with the comb-over as well. ;)

You have to give him this, though: he's a pretty sharp dresser.

yeah... true. But all that sweat!!! I'll bet he keeps a dry cleaner in business. :)

He looks like a bear who just can't seem to get enough sleep during the winter... then wakes up to find all of the pick-a-nic baskets all gone. hey hey hay hey!

The 3 reasons that
Sean Sutton sweats so much:
1. HE'S A MAN!!!
2. HE'S ALMOST 40!!!
3. HE'S NOT A KID!!!

Final Four: Tar Heels, Jayhawks, Longhorns, Bruins

Champion: Rock Chalk Jayhawk

I picked Kansas to go all the way. I know they've got a tough road, and I don't know how realistic it is for them to beat presumeably Georgetown and UNC, but that's who I went with. And hey, after day 1 was all said and done, I only got 2 games wrong...
