Let's Talk Sports

It's been a while, and I'm tired of talking about my health...

My Kansas City Royals are off to pretty good start. Perhaps they can stay relevant for a while this season?

I'm fairly unimpressed with OSU's hiring of Travis Ford as new men's basketball coach. Don't get me wrong - I want him to succeed. I just don't think he was the home run hire needed after forcing the Sutton family out the door. The coach hasn't even won a single NCAA tournament game! I don't question Mike Holder's loyalty to OSU. I just question his judgment.

I'm excited about NBA basketball coming back to Oklahoma. We always had a blast going to the Hornets games. In my previous employment, we did a decent amount of business with Clay Bennett, Aubrey McClendon, and some of the others that are a part of that ownership team. I think very highly of them - they were always first class businessmen in my dealings with them. They have proven to be generous philanthropists in Oklahoma City for years. Unfortunately, this Seattle Sonics deal has seemed cursed from day 1. Every move they have made has seemed to be the wrong one in the eyes of public perception (well, especially in Seattle...). That's too bad. They are good men trying to build up Oklahoma City. I wish the road would have been smoother for them. (For another perspective, and a good place to discuss sports, check out John's blog)

Happy Saturday, everyone. May OSU beat Texas in baseball again today to take the series!

Yeah, your Royals are doing pretty well so far. At least they are above .500; my Rangers are only 7-10. But just you watch, they're on the verge of a comeback! We ARE going to finish better than last place this year! (Hey, when you root for the Rangers, you have to think positive. =D)

When I've watched the Royals this year I've thought of you. They have done well, and since you are the only Royals fan I've met ... that's why I think of you.

I've enjoyed watching the Rangers, but you have to be willing to handle disappointment to be a Rangers fan. I'm going to the Rangers - Twins game on Friday night. We're pulling the kids out early to get one of the free shirts.

I'm also a Braves fan. My oldest, Taylor, and I love watching the braves. We've got 20 tickets to the Rangers - Braves tickets in June for an interleague game. Woo Hoo.

I don't know, Shane. UMASS has a pretty good history of the run-and-gun style of play... that I believe the OSU players are wanting to run. I'm not sure about HOW he'll get those kids to play and play together, but maybe the "non-sutton air" might trigger some teamwork and a freshness that is just needed over there. My 2 cents...
I applied and knew that I HAD to have had some real experience since I was someone who had been at Deer Creek and dealt with the "craziness". :-)

Yeah, your Royals getting off to a good start left my Tigers getting off to a terrible start!

So I guess that I'm the only National League fan on this blog?!!?!?!?! GO METS!

The Royals are on top for me, but I like the Red Sox, Astros, Rangers and Braves all right, too.

Preacherman, I had no idea you were a Horns fan. I believe I heard OSU accomplished the very first sweep of Texas at home since the Big 12 began. You guys have defended the home turf pretty well through the years!

Shane - I'm feelin ya on wanting the Royals to stay relevant for a while...I'm a Reds fan...we're always hoping they'll stay relevant.
On the other hand, we do have Ken Griffey Jr who is - in my opinion - the greatest baseball player of all time, playing just down the road in Cincinnati.

Hzve a Great Night...
