A couple of nights ago, my sleep was rudely interrupted by the sound of every smoke alarm in the house going off at 1:45 a.m.
A walk-through of the house and visual check of the attic revealed no fire, no smoke, no nothing (other than lost sleep and a very skiddish cat).
Last night, Alice was cooking some freezer meals to be ready when the family is here next week. In the process, she initiated her first kitchen fire in our 11 1/2 years of marriage.
Did those same smoke detectors go off this time?
Of course not.
(I'm happy to report that there was no damage. My fast-acting wife put out the fire with baking soda and didn't even gasp loud enough for me to know that it happened until she told me later, although that may have had to do with the fact that I had the headphones on...)

#3....Gotta love Alice for keeping that on the down low! Even when you were there! I need some lessons in not "gasping" when I do something like that. I can just hear it in her mind "Oh silly me...I've started a fire. Let me just put it out" Oh how calm she is! I just love her!

You and Alice have been married for 11 1/2 years???!!!! It only seems like a couple of years ago. Man, I feel old now.
If you ever do have a fire too big for even Alice to handle, and Owasso FD has to come out, tell Chief Clark I said hi. (He was the first FEMP graduate.)
Alice is just that cool under pressure! Bet she'd hit 10 out 10 free-throws if the game depended on it.

Way to go Alice!!! I knew she was calm, cool, and collected; I'm afraid I would've used a not-so-nice word if I set my kitchen on fire ;o)
Love the new heading. Maybe you need to consider new fire alarms. :)

Hee hee! Way to go Alice! We use to have a really old oven that no longer regulated or maintained a constant temp (that's my story and I'm sticking to it!!!!, anyway, the smoke alarms went off quite often when I would be cooking dinner. The family would always come when they heard them knowing that meant it was dinner time. It was sure easier than trying to round them all up!!!
