Fighting the Dark Forces...in the dark

It appears Satan doesn't want these Christmas cd's to get out...

If you've watched any news recently, I'm sure you're aware that Oklahoma has had a major ice storm. I type the word "major" and have to chuckle, because that almost seems to understate the situation.

According to news reports, the metro area of Tulsa and its suburbs has about 300,000 businesses and homes that have accounts with the power company. Last night, 240,000 of those did not have service. Food, gasoline, and heat are getting hard to come by right now.

Our house is in the dark and cold. Zorro is holding down the fort while we've been staying at my cousin's in Broken Arrow, but their power went out this morning as well. So, now we're on plan 3...

The Memorial Drive Church building currently has power - which is the only way I am able to access this blog. We are opening our doors to anyone who needs a warm place to stay. We do not have beds or food, but we have heat and padded pews, and that's more than many have right now. Terry has also graciously agreed to allow us to play some of his old sermons through the sound system to help people get to sleep tonight.

Say a prayer for our heroes who are out at work in the cold and rain trying to restore power to our community. They are working as hard as they can in adverse conditions. Current estimates are that it could take a week and a half to get power back on-line everywhere. They will get little sleep in the meantime. I for one am deeply grateful for their skill and dedication.

So, since most of town has no power, we have no ability to mail cd's at the moment (Haven't seen a postman this week, FedEx has no power, ...). I hope you can all be patient with us as we focus our efforts at the moment on trying to keep people warm and fed.

Quit fretting about those CD's. They'll get here when they get here. And we'll love them just the same. Right now you should be worried about more important things ... like how many Terry Rush sermons can these people handle in one day???

Blessings, brother. Several weeks without power in the sumer heat after Katrina was bad--I cannot imagine a week or more without heat in the cold...
